Several residents of Mountain View in St. Andrew are calling for the Zone of Special Operations to be established in their community.

This follows sporadic shootings, in and around the Jaques Road and Byron Road, off Mountain View Avenue.

Several residents of Mountain View staged a protest against violence in the area, this morning (Dec 15).

Inspector of police at the Mountain View station Jasper Grant says the police visited the area to ensure calm.

He says the police are maintaining a presence in the area.
