Andre Blake misses 2017 Concacaf player-of-the-year award to Keylor Navas

Jamaica’s Andre Blake lost out to Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas for the 2017 Concacaf player-of-the-year award.

Not many players enjoyed a year more successful than goalkeeper Keylor Navas did in 2017 in the history of Concacaf

He helped Costa Rica gain a berth in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, competing in seven Concacaf hexagonal matches and conceding only six goals.

Navas won multiple titles with real Madrid: Uefa champions league, Spanish la Liga, Uefa Super Cup and the Supercopa de España.

This is his second Concacaf player of the year having won in 2014 while he was Concacaf goalkeeper of the year in 2016.

Navas bested Jamaica goalkeeper Andre Blake who led the reggae boys to the Concacaf runner up spot.

He was also voted the best goal keeper in the MLS.

The goalkeepers were up against Bryan Ruiz, Hirving Lozano, Christian Pulisic, Javier Hernandez, Franco Jara, hector Moreno, Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore.

Meanwhile Alex Morgan was named the Concacaf female player for a second straight year and third overall.

The winners in nine additional categories for the annual Concacaf awards, including the male and female best ELEVEN will be announced on Tuesday, December 19.
