Wage talks to continue at local level at NHT

by January 5th, 2018

Wage discussions are to continue at the local level between the management of the National Housing Trust and the Staff Association.

That’s the word from the Ministry of Labour, which intervened in an impasse between the parties, calling them to an emergency conciliatory meeting, this morning (Jan 5).

A statement from the Labour Ministry this afternoon says the meeting was  in response to reported industrial action at the National Housing Trust.

It was reported that over one hundred grades one to four customer service officers island-wide, reported absent yesterday.

However, that claim was disputed by the trade union.

The ministry says, the meeting was held with the management of the NHT, as the National Housing Trust Staff Association, which is affiliated to the University and Allied Workers’ Union, although invited, was not in attendance.

It says, arising from the discussions, the ministry was advised that normality resumed this morning, at all branches of the NHT, and  local level negotiations will continue Tuesday, January 16, between the parties.
