Member of Parliament for West Portland Daryl Vaz says as soon as the rains ease, efforts will be made to get help to residents of the Rio Grande Valley who have been marooned.

Heavy rains have been lashing the parish since last night.

It’s also reported that the Swift River has overflowed its banks, causing a pile-up of traffic.

Mr. Vaz says several communities are without power.
