St Elizabeth police get tough on crime

by January 12th, 2018

Commanding Officer for St. Elizabeth Superintendent Catherine Lord says the police will be stepping up efforts to ensure a reduction in crime, this year.

Superintendent Lord says the parish saw an increase in murders in 2017, when compared to 2016.

She says there were 24 murders in 2017, and she is anticipating that there will be a reduction in the figures in 2018.

There was a 56 percent clear up rate in murders for 2017.

Superintendent Lord however notes that although there was a reduction in the number of break-ins in 2017, the number needs to be reduced for 2018.

This as it was in the hundreds.

The St. Elizabeth police chief is hopeful that with the overhaul of the policing strategies in the parish, there will be a reduction in crime, this year.
