Over 1,500 flock each Tax Office today to pay ticket fine on last day of amnesty

by January 13th, 2018

The Tax Office is reporting that up to mid-day today (Jan 13), an average of 1500 persons came in to each location island wide, to clear their traffic tickets under the second amnesty.

And even though the offices are closed, the amnesty will end at midnight, so persons still have an opportunity to pay online.

Communications Manager at the TAJ  Merris Haughton says the last minute rush was expected, and so several offices were opened today to facilitate that.

She says at closing time (2:00 p.m.) hundreds of people were still inside the offices, waiting to pay their ticket fines.

Ms. Haughton says use of the online platform to pay the tickets, is encouraging.

She says the TAJ will provide by next week, an assessment of the amnesty and the total amount of money collected.
