by January 15th, 2018

Member of Parliament for South Trelawny Marisa Dalrymple Philibert says teams from the National Works Agency (NWA) have been deployed to assist in areas affected by flooding following heavy rains between last night and this morning (Jan 15).

Among the affected communities are Stewart Town, Mahogany Hall, Barnstable, Jackson Town, and Parchment.

She says several homes in Mahogany Hall have been flooded out.

Mrs. Dalrymple-Philibert says family members, and   residents, have provided temporary shelter to those whose homes have been flooded.

She adds that the Long Pond area in North Trelawny is also affected by flooding.

Meantime, Parish Disaster Coordinator for Trelawny, Dionne Hylton-Lewis says this morning, students travelling from the Martha Brae community were not able to make it to school at the Perth Town Junior High.

Mrs. Hylton-Lewis is urging residents and farmers to stay away from flood waters.
