Brad Barnes called up to Windies u19 squad as replacement for Raymond Perez

by January 19th, 2018

Jamaican batsman Brad Barnes has been approved as a replacement for the injured Raymond Perez in the West Indies team in the ongoing ICC under 19 World Cup in New Zealand.

Perez sustained an ankle injury which will likely rule him out from the remainder of the tournament.

The ICC Event Technical Committee approved Barnes’ selection after receiving a report from an independent doctor on the extent of Perez’s injury.

The West Indies medical personnel originally advised that Perez sustained a grade 1 inversion sprain of the left ankle during a fielding session on January 15, and his chances of making a return during this tournament are slim.

Barnes, who currently attends Manchester High, was named among two standby players for the young Windies.

The Windies, who have been eliminated after losses to New Zealand and South Africa, return to action on Saturday against Kenya.
