Cruise ship industry players concerned about impact of state of emergency

by January 19th, 2018

Member of the National Cruise Council, Lee Bailey, says he wants to see special measures implemented, to ensure visitors to the island are not impacted by the operations of the security forces in St. James.

In commenting on the increased presence of police and soldiers due to the state of public emergency, Mr. Bailey says, he is concerned that people returning to cruise ships, or the airport, could be impacted.

He says any negative impact could have a chain reaction in the tourism sector.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said consideration was given to the tourism industry, in imposing the state of emergency in St. James.
