Montague apologises for Obeah comment, expresses concern about use of occult by criminals

National Security Minister Robert Montague has apologised for his remark made last year about his uncle being an Obeah man.

Speaking in parliament this afternoon (Jan 23) Mr. Montague noted that the comment was done in jest, however, some persons took offence to it.

Mr. Montgaue also stated that the authorities have noticed a trend where alleged criminals are thought to be engaging in occult practices.

Reports surfaced in recent months, that some persons in western parishes were using the practice as part of lottery scamming activities.
