Jamaica open new year 55th on FIFA Rankings

Jamaica’s national senior footballers, after a drop of one place, have started the year in the number 55 spot on the latest release of the FIFA Coca Cola World Rankings to remain as the highest placed Caribbean nation on the list and the number 5 team in CONCACAF.

World Cup bound Mexico, despite dropping a place, remain the top ranked CONCACAF team at 17 followed by the United States 25 and Costa Rica 27.

Panama (53), Honduras (67), Trinidad and Tobago (80), Curacao (84), Haiti (down 31 spots to 87), El Salvador (90) and Canada (95) are the other CONCACAF teams in the top 100.

World champions Germany continue to hold the number one spot.

The rest of the top 5 which is unchanged is completed by Brazil, European champions Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.

Spain, Poland, Switzerland, France, and Chile round out the top 10.
