Arsenal sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund

by January 31st, 2018

Former English Premier League champions Arsenal have completed the signing of Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £56 million.

The club-record move bolsters Arsene Wenger’s attack and reunites the striker with former Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Aubameyang is Arsenal’s second major signing of the January transfer window after Mkhitaryan joined from Manchester United in a swap deal for Alexis Sanchez.

The 28 year old is reportedly getting a deal worth £180,000 a week, making him the highest-paid player in Arsenal history — although Mesut Ozil would be expected to eclipse that figure if he signs a new contract.

The completion of the Aubameyang deal is expected to be followed by Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud moving across London to Chelsea, from where Michy Bathshuayi will leave for Dortmund to play in the Bundesliga.

Aubameyang during his time with Dortmund scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions.
