The unemployment rate is the lowest it has been in ten years.

In October 2017, unemployment rate was 10.4 %, the lowest since October 2008, with youth unemployment rate being 25.4 %.

According to Statin, the labour force at October 2017, was 1.34 m representing a decrease of 6,500 compared to 1.35 m in October 2016.

The male labour force decreased by just over 7,000  while the female labour force was 625,000 in October 2016 compared to 626, 000 in October 2017.

The number of persons employed in October 2017 was 1.2 m which was 27,300 more than the 1.17 m recorded in October 2016.

For males, employment increased by 5,300 between October 2016 and October 2017.

Female employment increased by 22,000 from 515,000 to 537,000 over the same period.
