Fitz Jackson pleased about behaviour of security forces in SOE

by January 31st, 2018

Opposition Spokesman on National Security Fitz Jackson says residents of St. James have expressed satisfaction with how the members of the security forces are operating under the state of emergency.

Mr. Jackson led a team from the People’s National Party on a tour of sections of St. James today (Jan 31), to speak with residents and business operators, as well as get brief reports from the police and soldiers.

The tour follows parliament’s approval yesterday of an extension of the state of emergency, up to May 2.

Speaking with reporters at the end of the tour, Mr. Jackson said while the residents are satisfied, some business operators still have an issue with the curfew time for closing.

Mr. Jackson is calling on the security forces to get a lock on violence producers, to include lottery scammers and gangsters, so that when the officers leave, the communities can remain safe.

He also wants government to ensure that the sense of peace is maintained in the parish, after the state of emergency comes to an end.
