Curfew monitors get uniforms

by January 31st, 2018

The Jamaica Constabulary Force has handed over uniforms to 25 community curfew monitors in Mount Salem, St. James.

Head of the Police Community Safety and Security branch, Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor along with sponsor Lifespan Spring Water handed over the uniforms this morning (Jan 31).

These 25 persons, mostly women, were trained as youth curfew monitors last December.

SSP McGregor says they will serve as curfew monitors for the police who imposed a 9:00 p.m. curfew for students, aged 17 and under, to stay off the streets.

In addition, SSP McGregor expressed gratitude to the 25 people who came forward to serve and monitor the children of their community.

The police imposed a 9:00 p.m. curfew in 2016, as they were of the view that criminals are preying on the vulnerability of many young children, luring them into illegal activities and turning their minds against going to school.
