Wage talks: Nurses offered 16% over 4 years

by February 2nd, 2018

The island’s nurses were offered a sixteen percent increase over four years, at yesterday’s (Feb 1) wage talks with the government.

President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) Carmen Johnson says the wage offer is not significant, based on the current wages of nurses.

Ms. Johnson says the offer will be presented in writing to the association by Monday.

The NAJ President says the association will meet with its membership next week to consider the offer.

The new four year contract was also offered to teachers and the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU).

Wage negotiations are normally held for a two year contract period.
