by February 5th, 2018

The 18 year old woman arrested in relation to the fatal fire at her home in Booby Drive, Olympic Way, St. Andrew has been charged and released on station bail.

The identity of the teen has not been released.

The fire on January 27 claimed the lives of her twin sons, one-year-old Juvaughne and Jivaughne Bennett – as well as her three-year-old sister Krisante Maxwell.

Two other children were injured in the fire and were hospitalised at the intensive care unit at the Bustamante hospital.

Reports are that the six children were left in the care of the 18 year old woman, who subsequently left the five children in the care of her 13-year-old sibling.

Operations officer for St. Andrew South, Superintendent Aaron Fletcher says the police are awaiting a ruling from the director of public prosecutions in relation to the deaths of the 3 toddlers.

Superintendent Fletcher says the teen was charged with cruelty to a child, in relation to the children who were burned.

She was granted bail last Thursday.

Superintendent Fletcher says the teen is still receiving counselling.
