The Oracabessa police are investigating the circumstances that led to an elderly woman being mowed over by two vehicles along the Stewart Town main road in St. Mary yesterday (Feb 4).

Dead is 78 year old Goffet Miller of the Stewart Town community.

Reports from the police are that around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Miller was crossing the road when she was hit down by a motorcycle and was further run over by a motor vehicle travelling behind the motor cycle.

She was pronounced dead at hospital.

The police are urging motorists to drive with caution along the nation’s roadways.

31 persons have died on roadways since the start of the year.

Meantime, at least one person has suffered broken bones following a motor vehicle accident in Galina, St. Mary this morning (Feb 5).

Reports are that shortly after midnight a Nissan Tiida motor car collided with another vehicle, then ran off the road.

The driver of the Tiida sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.

He has since been treated and released.
