The West Indies “a” team yesterday pulled off a 2 wicket win over England Lions at the Trelawney multi-purpose stadium to take a 1-nil lead in their three match unofficial four day test series.
Chasing 106 for victory the Windies “a” from their overnight 31 for 1, was made to work hard for the remaining 75 runs.
They were in trouble at 89 for 4 and fell into deeper trouble when they lost 4 wickets for 18 runs to be reduced to 98 for 7.
However Rahkeem Cornwall who scored 14 not out and Jeremiah Louis one not out, saw west indies “a” to victory at 108 for 6.
Jack Leach led the lions bowling with 5 for 25 and Liam Livingstone claimed 2 for 55.
Final scores in the match England Lions 252 and 132, west indies “a’ 279 and 108 for 9.
The second test starts on Sunday at Sabina Park, with the 3rd and final test at the sir Viv Richards stadium starting on February 26.
