Following sudden departure of coach, normality restored in Jamaican Camp at Winter Olympics

by February 15th, 2018

Less than 24 hours after Sandra Kiriasis the coach of the Jamaican women’s Bobsleigh team at the winter Olympic walked out of the Jamaican camp, some degree of normality has been restored.

Kiriasis the coach of Jazmine Fenlator- Victorian and Carrie Russell quit suddenly yesterday claiming she was forced out when her role was changed  from driving coach to track performance analyst, which would have given her no access to the athletes.

Yesterday she threatened to take the sled that the Jamaicans should use in competition, claiming she is legally responsible for it, and is also demanding payment for the equipment.

Asked to clarify the current impasse in the camp Secretary General of the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) Alan Beckford steered clear of the controversy.

The duo Fenlator-Victorian and Russell is set to begin official training on Saturday before their heats next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jamaica recorded their highest finish in a world cup race in winter-berg in Germany in December, finishing seventh after switching from a Japanese sled to the one currently in dispute.
