Enfield resident appeals for help

by February 17th, 2018

A resident of Enfield in St. Mary says she is living in fear that should the parish get a heavy bout of rain, her life and that of her family will be threatened.

Olive McKenzie says on January 6, heavy rains resulted in a landslide which dumped mud and debris onto her home.

She says following the flood rains, the authorities removed some of the debris from the roadway, and she has been trying unsuccessfully to get them to return to have a nearby river cleared.

She is making an impassioned plea for help from the authorities.

Ms. McKenzie says other residents are also affected by the situation.

She says in the aftermath of the flood rains, she was given 15 thousand dollars in assistance funding from the government, which was used to purchase a new  mattress.
