The naked body of a young girl was found at an abandoned building in Granville, St. James this morning (Feb 17).
Police have not yet released details of the incident, but residents told Irie FM News that they believe the body is that of a teenaged girl who went missing yesterday.
The mother of the missing girl, Valisha Vidal says the police prevented her from viewing the body.
Ms. Vidal says yesterday her 13 year old daughter went to a nearby shop to buy a cup soup but didn’t return home.
She and the child’s father were in the process of filing a missing person report with the police today, when she was informed about the discovery of a body inside a building close to her home.
Today’s incident follows another on Friday in Hanover, in which the body of a teen girl was found in bushes in the Hagile community.
That girl had also been reported as missing.
Meanwhile, Westmoreland police are investigating the circumstances in which a 14 year old girl was shot and wounded in Negril yesterday.
Reports are that about 8:15 p.m. the girl was at a shop when an armed man approached and opened fire.
The gunman then escaped.
The girl was found with bullet wounds to her leg and lower body.
She was taken to hospital where she has been admitted.
Her condition is not known.
