Minister of National Security Robert Montague says he has been assured by residents and business operators in Montego Bay St. James that they now feel safer.

The minister led a team of political representatives, police and soldiers on a tour of sections of the second city today, to assess the impact of the state of emergency.

Speaking with reporters following the tour, Mr. Montague pointed out that he has received positive feedback from citizens.

He says the positive reaction has assured him that the government can move ahead with undertaking other aspects of the crime plan.

The minister says he is now certain that the next phase of the security measures will be effective.
