Police urge citizens to give up wanted people for Lent

The police force has launched a wanted persons campaign for Lent.

It will run from today Sunday, February 25 to Friday, March 30.

The campaign called ‘What are you giving up for lent?’ urges Jamaicans to report wanted persons in their communities, whose photographs will be placed daily on the various police social media pages.

The constabulary force says the campaign comes against the background of the need to create safer communities in Jamaica.

Persons are asked to support this initiative and also be on the alert, so that these individuals can be apprehended and placed before the court.

 

Members of the public can share information by calling the JCF tip line at 811, additionally calls can be made to Crime Stop at 311, the nearest police station or by using the stay alert app.

The Criminal Investigations Branch headquarters will also be accepting tips at 922-2380.

The public is being reminded that it is an offence to harbour fugitives.

Meantime, the police have listed 19 wanted persons, renewing their call for them to turn themselves in immediately.

One woman is named on the list.

The police say they are wanted for murders and other crimes across the island.

Among those named is Charles Hamilton also called Thuggy Thuggy who frequents Annotto Bay.

He is wanted by the St. Mary police for illegal possession of firearm and shooting with intent.

While Bryan Forbes is wanted by the St. Ann police for murder. Police say he frequents Drumily.

The Kingston Central police are seeking Anthony Powell for murder. He is said to frequent Parade Gardens in Kingston

The only female on the list is wanted by the Kingston West police. She is Nichola DaCosta, who frequents East Road, Kingston 12 and is wanted for murder.

The other person being sought by the Kingston West police is Rory Headlam, otherwise called ‘Bowa’, who frequents Williams Street and Hannah Town in Kingston. He is also wanted for murder.

And for St. Catherine South, Ian Thomas, otherwise called ‘Scallie’, who frequents Gulf and Gregory Park in St. Catherine. He is wanted for a triple murder.

The list contains five persons wanted by the St. James police, three from St. Catherine North, 2 for Kingston East, one from St. Andrew South, 2 from Westmoreland  and one from Clarendon.

Most of them are wanted for murder.
