Blackwood & Paul thrive as Windies A go 2-0 up against England Lions

The West Indies A team maintain its dominance over England Lions after beating the visitors by 25 runs at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the unofficial three-match One Day series.

The Windies A batting first slumped to 78 for 5 in the 20th over before recovering to post 250 for 9 thanks to half centuries by Jermaine Blackwood and Keemo Paul.

Paul, in his final game before departing to join the senior West Indies team in Zimbabwe, led the way with 55, from 40 balls, while sharing in a 9th wicket partnership of 97 runs with Raymon Reifer who made 45 not out after facing 50 balls.

Blackwood meanwhile made 53, from 74 deliveries, and earlier put on 70 runs for the 7th wicket alongside Jahmar Hamilton who added 35.

Richard Gleeson (3-51) and Sam Curran (3-41) were the two most successful England Lions bowlers.

England Lions in reply was then bowled out for 231 in the 48th over with opener Alex Davies topscoring with 38 and Sam Northeast getting 34.

Bowling for the Windies A, Paul (3-54) and Jomel Warrican (3-41) got most wickets. They were supported by Roston Chase (2-41) along with Reifer and Odean Smith who both took a wicket each.

The Windies A with result go 2-0 up in the three-match series after sweeping the visitors 3-0 in the unofficial Four Day Test series.

The third and final game will be played on Sunday also at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
