Drew Brees re-signs with New Orleans Saints

by March 13th, 2018

Superstar quarterback Drew Brees has agreed to a two-year, $50 million extension with the New Orleans Saints.

The deal, which ensures the Saints will remain Super Bowl contenders, includes $27 million guaranteed in the first year and also has a no trade clause

Brees, who turned 39 in January, last season completed an NFL-record 72 percent of his passes for 4,334 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions.

Since being joining the Saints in 2006 he has thrown for 58,097 yards and 408 touchdowns – the most by any quarterback in any 12-season span in NFL history.

He also led the franchise to its first and only Super Bowl in 2009 and is on pace to pass both Peyton Manning and Brett Favre next season to become the NFL’s all-time passing yardage leader.

Brees needs 1,496 yards to break Manning’s record of 71,940. He needs 52 more touchdown passes to break Manning’s NFL record of 539.
