Manufacturing company Lasco has announced a 50 percent cut in the sugar content for its flagship brands.
This is in keeping with the Ministry of Health’s drive to promote a healthier Jamaica.
Chairman of Lasco, Lascelles Chin, says among the changes, Lasco food drinks will now have a low-sugar option, with 50 percent less sugar.
He advised of the other products that will see a reduction in sugar content.
The government has been pushing for manufacturers to reduce the sugar content in their products to help with the prevention of some non-communicable diseases.
Mr. Chin was speaking a press conference this morning (Mar 14) at the company’s Central Village Headquarters in St. Catherine.
