Anderson sworn in as new Police Commissioner

Major General Antony Anderson was sworn-in this morning (Mar 19), as the country’s Police Commissioner.

He took the oath of office, at the Police Commissioner’s Office in Kingston, after which he held a briefing session with area and section commanders.

Major General Anderson was appointed earlier this month, by the police service commission.

He told Irie FM News about his first day on the job, noting he has been briefed on current and future operations.

He replaces George Quallo who went on retirement.

The former Chief of Defence Staff is the third former army man, to be appointed as Police Commissioner.

He was also National Security Adviser prior to his appointment as Police Commissioner.
