3 Alleged gunmen shot dead by security forces

Three alleged gunmen were shot and killed during an alleged confrontation with the security forces in Amity Hall St. James, today (Mar 30).

The Constabulary Communication Unit confirmed the incident but was unable to provide details.

However, Irie FM News understands that about 5 o’clock this morning a joint police military team carried out an operation in the Sunderland area of Amity Hall.

It’s reported that the team was acting on information that a man being sought in relation to a murder committed recently in Spring Mount, was hiding in bushes, in Sunderland district.

Further reports are that on the approach of the security forces, gunmen opened fire and the fire was returned.

Several of the gun men reportedly escaped.

Following the shootout, 3 men were found with gunshot wounds.

They were pronounced dead at hospital.

2 illegal firearms with ammunition were also seized during the incident.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) has sent its agents to probe the matter.

The identities of the men killed have not been released.
