Cops at Falmouth station when detainees escaped taken off front line duty

The cops, who were at the Falmouth police station when four detainees escaped, have been taken off front line duty.

It’s reported that about 10:00 p.m. yesterday, during routine check, it was discovered that the prisoners had escaped through an opening, after cutting through a vent.

Head of the Trelawny police Superintendent Dwight Powell says additional security measures have been implemented following the jail break.

Irie F M News has received reports that one of the escapes is Mario Robinson, who was in jail in relation to the murder of Green Pond High School student Shineka Grey.

Superintendent Powell says while he can indicate that some of the escapees are facing murder charges, he cannot at this time confirm which specific murder case the charges apply to.

Meantime, an investigation has been launched into the escape of four prisoners from the Falmouth lock- up in Trelawny yesterday.

According to Acting Superintendent of Police Dahlia Garrick, who heads the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force the police are moving swiftly to catch the escapees.

The escapees have been identified as: 31 year old Oniel Demetrius also called Boy Boy of Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny; 24-year-old Mario Morrison of Bambo District, Hanover; 22-year-old Trevaun Lawson also called Tall Man of Rose Mount, St. James; and 39 year old Adrian Stewart of Dumfries, St. James.

Reports are that about 10:00 p.m. routine checks were made by officers on duty, who found that the cell was empty.

Further checks revealed that the prisoners escaped through an opening, after cutting through a vent.

ASP Garrick says the investigation will determine the appropriate course of action.

In the meantime, she is reminding the public that harbouring a fugitive is a criminal offense.
