Vin Blaine to oversee CONCACAF D License course

Former JFF technical  coordinator Vin Blaine is in the island to oversee a ‘train the coaches’ course which gets underway at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence on Wednesday.

The coaches and PE teaches are from Insports affiliated primary schools from the parishes of Clarendon, Hanover, St. Elizabeth, St. Catherine, St. Andrew, Manchester, St. Ann and Kingston.

They will be ‘coached’ by trainers Wendell Downswell; Hopeton Gilchrist and Davion Ferguson who participated in the CONCACAF Train the Trainers Course in 2017.

These trainers will be closely watched by Blaine, the CONCACAF Instructor, and will officially receive their CONCACAF D License instructors certification upon successful execution of this training session.

The primary school coaches will receive training in the following topics:

  • Principles of Coaching
  • Health and Safety
  • Session Planning
  • Small sided Games
  • Age Appropriate Training
  • Coaching Defending and Attacking in small groups
  • How and when to pass; dribble and control
  • Club Development

The focus of this the ninth year of the coaching development programme will be on primary school coaches and refresher courses for graduates.

The Opening Ceremony for the course will be held on Wednesday, April 11 beginning at 9:30am.
