by April 11th, 2018

The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt has added even more star power to the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast after landing in Brisbane earlier this morning.

The retired Olympic 100m and 200m world record holder is lending his support to his countrymen and women.

Bolt said he was “glad” to be in Queensland and also posted a photo to Twitter with Games mascot Borobi along with the caption “game time”.

Bolt, who is making his first visit to the Gold Coast, missed the men’s 100m final at the Carrara Stadium where South African Akani Simbine claimed the gold medal in an upset win over his former Racers training partner Yohan Blake.

The 31 year old, after happily striking his signature lightning bolt pose for the cameras, said he would be cheering on the Jamaican athletics and netball competitors this week.

“We are a big track nation so I always expect the best from them at all times,” he said.

“This is the first time I’m actually going to be at a championship and not be competing so I’m excited just to watch and to cheer on and get the chance just to see it from a different angle.”

Bolt is scheduled to host a press conference tomorrow.
