Reggae Boyz move up on FIFA Rankings, Germany still no.1

by April 12th, 2018

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz have moved up another spot to 48 on the latest release of the FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings.

A feat that sees them remain as the highest ranked team in the Caribbean and 4th in CONCACAF overall.

Mexico, who moved up 2 places, lead all CONCACAF teams at 15 followed by the United States (24) and Costa Rica (25).

Panama (55), Honduras (59), Curacao (71), Canada (80), El Salvador (85), and Trinidad and Tobago (92) are also in the top 100.

World champions Germany continue to hold top spot ahead of Brazil with Belgium up two places to third.

European champions Portugal and Argentina round out the top 5.

The rest of the top 10 includes Switzerland, France, Spain, Chile and Poland.

The Reggae Boyz, shocked by the sudden resignation of coach Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore’ last Friday, are currently preparing for the CONCACAF Nations League where they open against Cayman Islands on September 2.

The team before that will play a pair of friendlies against St. Kitts and Nevis (April 26) and Antigua and Barbuda (April 28).

Their last outing saw them conceding late and were held to a 1-1 draw by Antigua and Barbuda at Sabina Park on March 25.
