3 suspects held for shooting of 7 – 2 fatally – in Hanover

The Hanover police have arrested three men in relation to the shooting of seven people, two fatally by gunmen in separate incidents, between last night and early this morning (Apl 13).

In the first incident, a female shop owner 38-year-old Ronda Smith, otherwise called ‘Suzie’, of Haughton district, Salt Spring, Hanover was shot dead, and four others shot and wounded.

The second incident saw fifty-eight- year-old Barbara Gilpin of Newton, Cousin Cove, Hanover being killed and her son shot and wounded in the community.

Commanding Officer in charge of Hanover, Superintendent Sharon Beeput says the police are searching for two more men.

Although a clear motive has not been determined in the shootings, Superintendent Beeput is urging residents to report to the police, if their lives are being threatened by criminals.

And, the Hanover top cop has warned, that as a result of the shootings, entertainment events in the parish will be curtailed.

Meanwhile, relatives of the female shop owner who was murdered in Salt Spring, Hanover, have reacted with shock at her killing.

Four others including another female were shot and wounded in the incident.

Gunmen on a motorcycle reportedly attacked them, on their way home last night.

The female shop owner 38-year- old Ronda Smith, otherwise called ‘Suzie’, of Haughton district was pronounced dead at hospital.

A male relative described her as being very kind.
