Nesta Carter, Sherone Simpson & Kerron Stewart named on Jamaican Penn Relays team

Veteran sprinter Nesta Carter, who is still awaiting a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on his appeal of a disqualification from the 2008 Olympic Games, has been named in a 25 member team to represent Jamaica at the 2018 Penn Relays.

Carter was listed among the 12 male athletes to compete, and he will join the likes of Oshane Bailey, Everton Clarke, Chadoye Dawson, Demish Gaye, Jermaine Gayle, Martin Manley, Peter Mathews, Marzel Miller, Jevaughn Minzie, Jamari Rose and Tyquendo Tracey.

The women’s team which includes Olympic relay gold medallists Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson is completed by 2018 Commonwealth Games 400m silver medal winner Anastasia Le-Roy, Schillonie Calvert-Powell, Verone Chambers, Christine Day, Gayon Evans, Tiffany James, Tovea Jenkins, Jura Levy, Natasha Morrison, Kaliese Spencer and Rhonda Whyte.

The Jamaicans will partake in the much anticipated USA vs The World Series which includes men’s and women’s 4x100m, 4x400m and sprint medley relays on Saturday.

Maurice Wilson has been named as head coach and will be supported by Jermaine Shand with JAAA general secretary Garth Gayle serving as team manager.
