Decomposing bodies found in shallow graves in Clarendon

by April 27th, 2018

The four decomposing bodies, found in shallow graves in Pennants, Clarendon this morning (Apl 27), have been exhumed, and removed to a funeral home.

Post mortem examinations will be done, to among other things, verify identity.

The bodies are believed, to be those of four St. Elizabeth men, who were reported missing, earlier this month.

The shallow graves were found, in an isolated area, near a river, by sand miners.

Head of the area three police, Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, says officers combed the area, but no other bodies were found.

ACP Chambers says the police are checking theories, that the killings are linked to a gang feud, or drug running.

Investigators have launched a search for a suspect, with connections to Haiti.

He says the police are also checking if persons familiar with the geographic lay-out of the area, had knowledge of the incident.

Meantime, Councillor for the Chapleton division in Clarendon, Hershell Brown says residents of pennants are still in shock at the discovery of 4 decomposing bodies this morning.

He says the community is a relatively quiet one, and incidents like this are not common.

Police theorise that the bodies may be of the 4 men reported missing from St. Elizabeth.

Mr. Brown says the shallow graves were found by persons doing sand mining along the banks of the river.
