Capleton’s lawyer Christopher Townsend says a dual investigation is taking place. According to Townsend, the lady who accused the 51-year-old dancehall deejay of rape is also being investigated for extortion. He said he anticipates the lady will also be taken into custody shortly.

On Friday, detectives assigned to the Center for Investigation Sexual Offense and Child Abuse (CISOCA) arrested and charged Capleton for rape.

According to Corporate Communications Unity CCU, reports are that on Saturday, April 28, at about 11:20 am, Capleton allegedly hired a female hairdresser to groom his hair at a hotel in New Kingston. The report further states that while at the hotel the dancehall deejay allegedly forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation launched. Capleton was subsequently charged after a question and answer interview was conducted in the presence of his attorney.

Capleton is to appear in the St. Andrew Parish Court on Monday, May 14.
