Star Jamaican winger Leon Bailey, despite Bayer Leverkusen missing out on securing a place in next season’s Champions League, has made Goal.com’s Bundesliga Team of the Season.
The 20-year-old Bailey, in his debut season, contributed nine goals and seven assists to put Leverkusen in Champions League contention however they missed out by finishing 5th on goal difference behind Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund after all three teams finished tied on 55 points.
The reliable Jiri Pavlenka of Werder Bremen gets the goalkeeper slot and top goal-scorer Robert Lewandowski of champions Bayern Munich is the lone striker.
Joining left winger Bailey in midfield are Daniel Caligiuri (Schalke), the Bayern Munich pair of James Rodriques and Tomas Muller and Kevin-Prince Boateng (Eintracht Frankfurt).
The defenders are Phillip Max (Augsburg) at left back, Mats Hummells (Bayern Munich), Brazilian central defender Naldo (Schalke) and right back Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich).
