Technology Minister Dr. Andrew Wheatley says government intends to establish a Cyber Academy that will lead the Caribbean region’s charge, against cybercrime.

The minister made the announcement, while making his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in Parliament, this afternoon (may 15).

Dr. Wheatley says, one of the challenges faced in the fight against cybercrime, is the lack of experts in the field.

He says it’s important that Jamaica has qualified experts to protect its assets.

The academy will serve as a centre of excellence for the Caribbean.
