Pep signs contract extension at Manchester City

by May 17th, 2018

Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at Manchester City until 2021.

The Catalan was entering the final 12 months of a three-year deal signed when he joined the club in the summer of 2016.

The contract extension means his deal with City is the longest commitment the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has made to a club since starting his managerial career in 2008.

“I am so happy and excited. It’s a pleasure to work here,” he said.

“I enjoy working with our players every day and we will try to do our best together in the coming years. As a manager, you have to feel good to be with the players – and I feel good.”

The 47 year old, in his debut season at the Etihad, led the team to a third place finish in 2016, before going on to win the EFL Cup and the Premier League title with a record 100 points from a record 32 victories while scoring a record 100 goals.

He was recently named the English League Managers Association manager of the year.
