Sunshine Girls close gap on the top 3 on INF Rankings

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls following their recent bronze medal finish at the Commonwealth Games in Australia have closed the gap on third ranked England on the latest release of the INF World Netball Rankings.

The Jamaicans, who also won the Taini Jamison Trophy in New Zealand, occupy the number 4 spot on 161 rating points.

They are now just 8 behind the England Roses who closed the gap on second ranked New Zealand to just 6 points after their historic gold medal win on the gold coast.

Australia leads the way at the top of the rankings with 213 rating points while South Africa at number 5 remain the highest ranked African side following their fifth place finish at the Commonwealth Games.

Malawi’s memorable victory over the Silver Ferns sees them strengthen their position in sixth ahead of the chasing Uganda.

The rest of the top 10 is rounded out by Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Fiji drop out of the top twelve which sees Trinidad & Tobago benefit as they move into 12th – one place behind Barbados.

Samoa who recently qualified for next year’s Netball World Cup rise one position to 14th and Hong Kong who finished second in their Four Nations Tournament rise up one position to 28th.

The latest rankings reflect games played up to the 21st of April.
