Bayern Munich make record bid for Leverkusen star Leon Bailey

by May 18th, 2018

German champions Bayern Munich have tabled an offer worth €60 million for Bayer Leverkusen’s exciting Jamaican winger Leon bailey.

Leverkusen, however, it is said are holding out for a fee closer to €100 million and would much prefer to sell Bailey to Real Madrid, who have also expressed a strong interest in him.

According to ESPN, the 12-time Champions League winners have instructed Portuguese agent Jose Mendes to explore the possibility of luring the 20-year-old to the Spanish capital.

Bailey, a €13.5 million euro buy from Belgian side KRC Genk in January 2017, had an electric season in the Bundesliga, garnering the attention of top clubs worldwide.

He scored 12 goals and assisted a further 6 for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, establishing himself as one of the most exciting youth talents while helping Leverkusen to a 5th-placed finish in the league.

The bid, if successful, would break the Bavarian giant’s record signing of €41.5 million for French midfielder Corentin Tolisso in the summer of 2017.
