Serena Williams won’t be seeded at the French Open

Former world number Serena Williams won’t be seeded at the French tennis open this year.

The open began yesterday with the qualifiers and this year again tournament officials will establish the list and ranking of the women’s seeds based on the WTA ranking.

The WTA is considering a rule change to add protected seeding’s for highly ranked players returning from maternity leave but the earliest that could take effect is next year.

The three-time French open champion and 23-time grand slam winner will be playing in her first slam since taking maternity leave following the 2017 Australian open.
