The poor relief department of the Hanover Municipal Corporation received a much needed technological boost, with a gift of computer tablets and other equipment from the Local Government Ministry.

Portfolio minister Desmond McKenzie made the presentation while at a meeting of the corporation on Thursday.

The department was also given one million dollars in support funding.

Mr. McKenzie noted that staff members of the poor relief department were challenged in carrying out their duties with outdated tools and equipment.

Meantime, another set of tablets was also given to the councillors of the Municipal Corporation.
