The burnt remains of man were found in the trunk of a burnt out car in Claremont, St. Ann this morning.

Head of the St. Ann police Superintendent Michael Smith says residents discovered the vehicle in a secluded area and summoned the cops.

The car appeared to have been set on fire prior to today.

Superintendent Smith says preliminary investigations reveal that the vehicle was rented from someone in Kingston.

He says the St. Ann police will be collaborating with their Kingston colleagues in the investigation.

Contact has also been made with relatives of the man who rented the vehicle to determine if the burnt body found, is his.

The man was reported missing.
