Roadways equipped with technology to help in law enforcement

by June 1st, 2018

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the Constant Spring, Mandela Highway, Three Miles and Barbican roadways have been equipped with modern technology to assist in law enforcement.

He points-out that the police will be on the alert to catch criminals through facial and licence plate recognition.

The Prime Minister was speaking on a tour of the legacy projects in the Corporate Area.

The road works are being executed under the major infrastructure improvement projects.

The tour began at Constant Spring, then to the Mandela Highway and ended in Barbican.

Meantime, the government says it will be launching a public education campaign in the coming weeks, to inform road users of the proper way to use the corridors.

The campaign, which will be executed by the government and the National Works Agency, will provide information on how to use the Constant Spring, Mandela Highway, Three Miles and Barbican road ways.

Mr. Holness says many people are not aware of the changes to the improved roadways.

He points out that all of the projects have been modernized, to help the commuting public to move around with ease.

He is appealing to citizens to uphold their duty and obligation, and follow the rules of the road traffic act.

Additionally, he highlights that greater investments can be made for housing, as the relevant infrastructure will be in place.
