Mavado Speaks Out Following Shooting Incident

by June 4th, 2018

Dancehall entertainer Mavado has responded to police and media reports of a shooting incident involving the Gully God, in his home community of Cassava Piece St. Andrew on Saturday.

In a cryptic post on his official Instagram page, Mavado warned fans to not believe the rumors and blessed up his community of Cassava Piece.

Since news broke of the shooting incident, dancehall fans took to social media trolling the Gully God with lines from his arch nemesis Vybz Kartel’s ‘Last Man Standing’ single, after it was said that Mavado threw the first punch, then ran to the police, after he escaped the gun shots. The lines “The bwoy run like a wounded dawg, bruck Usain record” and “barber bwoy doan run” have been used by fans in response to the incident, and this might have triggered Mavado’s social media response.

But despite the Gully God’s post, police have confirmed the shooting incident did take place, and that a suspect is currently in custody. According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the JCF, Mavado and an individual were involved in an argument at approximately 11:30am on Saturday June 2. The person left the scene and returned armed, firing shots at the entertainer, and his vehicle, he escaped unhurt. Reports were then made to the Constant Spring Police Station, who acted on intelligence and have since arrested a suspect.

No charges have yet been pressed in this ongoing investigation.
