Manchester United agree deal to land Brazil midfielder Fred

English giants Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Brazil midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported fee worth £52 million.

Fred underwent a medical at Carrington on Monday and is expected to sign a four-year deal at Old Trafford to become Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the summer.

The 25-year-old, who has been named in the Brazil squad for the upcoming FIFA World cup finals, spent five seasons with Shakhtar where he helped the team win three league titles, three Ukrainian cups and four Ukrainian super cups.

He has been capped eight times by brazil after making his international debut in 2014 and will compete for a place in United’s midfield next season with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils in the meantime have also closed in on Porto defender Diogo Dalot after the 19-year-old completed his medical.

The Old Trafford based club have already agreed an undisclosed fee for the full-back who is understood to have a release clause in his contract worth £17.4 million pounds.
