West Indies wicketkeeper batsman Shane Dowrich climbs in ICC rankings

West Indies wicketkeeper batsman Shane Dowrich who struck an unbeaten hundred in the recent first test against Sri Lanka in Port of Spain last week, has climbed 20 spots in the ICC test batting rankings.

In the latest rankings released yesterday, the 25-year-old had improved to 66th, representing one of the biggest movers.

The right-hander struck 125 not out – his second test hundred – to dig west indies out of trouble in the first innings in Trinidad and help set up their eventual emphatic 226-run victory.

He is just one spot behind West Indies captain Jason Holder at 65 while Kieran Powell has also moved up to 53 while Kraig Brathwaite at number 17 is the top West Indies batsman on the rankings.

Suspended Australian captain Steve smith is the top ranked batsman ahead of India’s Virat Kohli Joe Root of England Kane Williamson of New Zealand while suspended Australian batsman David Warner rounds out the top five.
