by June 15th, 2018

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored the first hat-trick of the 2018 World Cup Russia.

He achieved the feat after hitting the back of the net three times to help Portugal come from behind to earn a 3-3 draw in their Group B opener Spain.

The Real Madrid striker opened the scoring in the 4th minute from the penalty spot and later shot the European champions into a 2-1 lead in the 44th after a mistake by David De Gea.

He then stepped up with 2 minutes remaining in the contest to curl home a stunning freekick that De Gea could only watch helplessly.

Diego Costa (21st and 55th) was also on target twice for Spain who twice came from behind to level proceedings in the 55th minute before Nacho’s wonder striker in the 58th gave them a 3-2 lead.

Ronaldo in the meantime has also become the first player to score at 8 major international tournaments.

Portugal now head to Moscow for their game against Morocco at the Luzhniki stadium on Wednesday, with Iran facing Spain in Kazan later the same day.
